Camden's Noggin

I have been meaning to write a post about this.

So, for those of you who don't already know, next Monday Camden will be getting a helmet.

Basically, his head is crooked.  Haha!  But seriously, let me explain.  Since he was born, whenever he sleeps or is laying down (in his carseat or bouncy seat), he favors resting on the right side of his head.  Because of that, he developed a flat spot on that side which has thrown off the proportions and roundness of the rest of his head.

In Camden's case, the reason his head always falls to the right is because his neck muscle on that side is tight, causing his head to pull to that side.  At his evaluation appointment at Cranial Technologies (the helmet company), the therapist taught me several stretches to treat the tightness in his neck.  I have to do the stretches 5-6 times per day until the tightness resolves and his head sits straight.

Like I mentioned, Cranial Technologies is the place who will be treating his head.  So far they have been wonderful.  I am not the best at explaining things, but their website has really great additional information and pictures to help you understand better the process that Camden will be going through.  He will have to wear it 23 hours per day, only taking it off for bath / cleaning it, but his therapist doesn't think he should have to wear it any longer than 10 weeks.

He is gonna be the cutest helmet baby ever!  And by the end he will have a nice round melon head!
